Methacrylates

The use of composite materials in the building industry is an area that is steadily growing, due to the versatility allowed by the substrate. The use of moulded synthetic materials allows architects to work to new levels, that would previously been either impossible to make, or financially unfeasible. This use of moulded, and fabricated GRP, can be seen in bay window roofs, dorma window roofs, door surrounds, porticoes and columns, and even entrance canopies.
A leading manufacturer of these items in the UK, uses methacrylates to bond both mechanical fastenings on to the GRP for assembly, and actually fabricate some of the more complex units, incorporating their own GRP brackets within the structure. Methacrylates not only provides the freedom of design for the architect, but also a bond strength that is stronger than the material itself.
